Academics - College Counseling

CindyWarner "One of the benefits of attending TCCS is the personalized academic and college counseling that is professionally provided for every student in grades 7-12."

~ Cindy Warner, Academic College Counselor

During the school year, our counselors meet individually with all students and their parents in grades 9 through 12 to pray with them, review their PSAT score report (9th through 11th grade), review any previous SAT/ACT scores, provide test prep resources, review academic progress, review graduation requirements, plan courses for the upcoming school year, review college and career objectives, review college admission requirements (11th and 12th grade), and direct students to online college-planning resources. These meetings are scheduled through the secondary office.collegenotes5

The counselors also conduct an all 8th grade high school preparedness event - "Keys to Success" for all 8th grade students and their parents to facilitate the transition from middle school to high school. Additionally, the counselors work with the 7th grade study skills class and 8th grade Bible classes to introduce our junior high students to the college process.

The counseling department utilizes Naviance which is a comprehensive college and career readiness platform that helps districts and schools align student strengths and interests to postsecondary goals, improving student outcomes and connecting learning to life. This program helps counselors follow students from 7th through 12th grade as they help them discover God's plan for their future.

The counseling office also provides the following seminars/workshops:

8th Grade:

"Keys to Success" - Winter

11th Grade:

"Junior Information Night" - Spring

"Financial Aide & FASA Seminar" - Fall

12th Grade:

"Senior Information Night" - Fall
