Student Life - Elementary

Spiritual Life

Spiritual life at TCCS permeates through our entire school program because we desire our students to grow and mature in their faith, knowledge, and love for God according to Matthew 22:34-40.

In this passage, Jesus tells us that what is most important to God can be boiled down tothese two commandments:

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul. You shall love others as yourself."

Elementary Boys Student LifeWhat do we do to help students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ?

  • We hire Christians who are passionate about students, teaching, and learning
  • Because the Word of God is the foundation of our faith, we offer biblical instruction in our Bible classes and across the curriculum
  • We invest time in worshipping God at our weekly chapel programs
  • We take our faith and put it into action as we reach out to others through missions trips and community service activities
  • We pray (praising, thanking, confessing, and making our requests known to God) throughout each school day
  • We respect and care for each other as Christ said, “The world will know that we are Christians by our love for one another”

Our school’s motto is training up spiritual champions for Jesus Christ, and our definition of a “spiritual champion” is one who is:

  • Vested in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Grounded in Biblical truth, able to articulate and defend their faith
  • Christ-like in mind, body, and spirit

Weekly Worship Chapels

Our students love to worship and at chapel, we worship the Lord! Teachers encourage students to participate in weekly chapel and worship programs. Through group and individual song, drama, and media, our students create a worshipful atmosphere that honors the Lord.

Cultivating Hearts for Jesus

During the year, our students participate in supporting a few ministries such as Samaritan’s Purse/Operation Christmas Child, and Bread of Life. Our students learn early that as followers of Jesus Christ, we can make a difference in our world by helping and loving others. We are so blessed to honor God by giving to others, and our students have and continue to demonstrate that they want to put their faith into action.

Co-Curricular Activities

"Learning at TCCS is not confined to the four walls of the classroom as many teachers seek to inspire and engage their students with enriching educational field and study trips throughout the year."

In addition, students participate in local and regional competitions in Math Olympics, Art Festival, Speech Meet and Writing contests through ACSI. A rich Performing Arts program is evident through the many grade level and school productions showcased during the year. There are many opportunities for students to exercise expression of their God-given talents at TCCS!

Performing Arts Programs

Our students in Kindergarten through 6th grade are provided the opportunity to have a weekly music/performing arts class along with many opportunities to perform at school-wide programs and evening events for parents, grandparents, and friends. Grandparent’s Day, Veterans Day, and grade level programs, are just a few of the many spectacular performing arts productions that honor and inspire our guests to see the value of a Christ-centered education.

Spelling Bee

Students in grades 1-6 participate in a school spelling bee with the winners going on to the ACSI District Spelling Bee.

Math Olympics

Students in grades 1-6 compete for the opportunity to represent TCCS at the ACSI District Math Olympics.

Speech Meet

Annually, students in grades 1-6 select a poem, passage of Scripture, a short story, or a monologue and memorize it for the purpose of delivering an oral presentation. Selected students represent TCCS at the ACSI District Speech Meet.

Tri-City Christian has hosted the ACSI District Speech Meet for many years.

Eagle Time Tuesdays

Students K-6 gather around the U.S. map to celebrate birthdays, crazy socks, but most importantly to corporately recite our pledges, reflect on our Christlike character trait of the month, and PRAY!

Field/Study Trips

Students in all grades take field trips, carefully aligned with instructional goals, to enhance their learning experiences. Our 4th grade also takes a 3-day study trip to Sacramento and San Francisco as part of their history focus while 6th grade enjoys Astrocamp to cap off their science studies for the year.

Enriching the Learning Experience

Engaging educational experiences involve guest speakers consisting of parents, authors, artists, musicians, doctors, nurses, military, and other professionals.

Art Festival

Students K-6 will have their artwork displayed at our annual TCCS Art Fair. Grades 3-6 will also have guest judges determine a blue, red, and white ribbon winner per class.

Reading Buddies

Several of our upper elementary classes partner with our lower elementary classes to spend time reading with each other. This gives both groups of children extra practice time reading aloud. It also forms a bond between the different age groups.

21st Century Learning

Students have the opportunity to collaborate across the curriculum utilizing Chromebooks, iPads, and SMART technology in the classroom. Project-based activities enhance their learning opportunities while weekly time in our Mac Lab enables them to increase their computer skills.

5th and 6th Grade Enrichment Wheel

In order to expose our 5th and 6th grade classes to a variety of enrichment opportunities, they rotate into different electives each quarter. This year they have had experience with Worship Arts, 2-D Art, Multi-media, and Spanish.
